This guide explains how to use the enhanced Grid View to track task counts, view completion dates, and apply advanced date filtering to better manage your projects and report on progress.
Accessing Grid View
Navigate to Your Project
- Click on Projects from the main menu to view your list of projects.
- Select the project you wish to manage.
- Click the full screen toggle button to open Grid View.
- This displays your tasks in a comprehensive grid layout with enhanced filtering capabilities.
Understanding the Task Count Display
View Real-Time Task Counts
- A task count bar appears at the bottom of the grid showing "Showing X of Y tasks"
- X = number of tasks currently visible after filters are applied
- Y = total number of tasks in the project
- The count bar remains visible while scrolling through your task list.
Task Count Updates
- The count updates automatically when:
- You apply filters from filter tiles above the grid
- You use column filters directly within the grid
- Any combination of filters changes which tasks are visible
- Updates occur in real-time without needing to refresh the page.
Common Count Scenarios
- No filters applied: Displays "Showing Y of Y tasks" (all tasks visible)
- Filters active: Displays "Showing X of Y tasks" (filtered results)
- All tasks filtered out: Displays "Showing 0 of Y tasks"
- Empty project: Displays "Showing 0 of 0 tasks"
Working with the Completion Date Column
Understanding Completion Dates
- The Completion Date column replaces the previous Dependencies column.
- This column automatically tracks when tasks are finished.
How Completion Dates Work
- For Incomplete Tasks:
- The cell remains blank until the task is marked complete.
- For Completed Tasks:
- The date displays automatically when you mark a task as complete.
- No manual date entry is required.
- For Reopened Tasks:
- If you mark a completed task as incomplete, the completion date clears automatically.
Date Display Format
- Today: Shows "Today" for the current date
- Tomorrow: Shows "Tomorrow" for the next day
- Other Dates: Shows the full date (e.g., "Sep 18, 2025")
Applying Advanced Date Filters
Access Date Filtering
- Date filters are available for three columns:
- Start Date
- End Date
- Completion Date
- Click the filter icon in any of these column headers to open filtering options.
Use Quick Range Filters
- Click the filter icon in a date column.
- Select from predefined quick ranges:
- Today - Tasks with dates matching today
- Yesterday - Tasks from the previous day
- This Week - Tasks within the current week
- This Month - Tasks within the current month
- Last 30 Days - Tasks from the past 30 days
- This Quarter - Tasks within the current quarter
- The grid updates immediately to show matching tasks.
Create Custom Date Ranges
- Click the filter icon in a date column.
- Select the Custom Date Range option.
- Use the date pickers to set:
- From date - Start of your date range
- To date - End of your date range
- The system validates that the "From" date is not after the "To" date.
- Click Apply to filter tasks within your selected range.
Clear Date Filters
- Click the filter icon in a filtered column.
- Select the Clear option to remove the filter.
- The grid refreshes to show all tasks for that column.
Combining Multiple Filters
Apply Filters Across Columns
- You can activate filters on multiple date columns simultaneously.
- When multiple filters are active, they work together using AND logic.
- Example: Tasks must match ALL active filter criteria to be displayed.
Monitor Active Filters
- Column headers display a highlighted filter icon when a filter is active.
- The task count bar reflects the combined effect of all active filters.
- All filter changes update the grid in real-time without page refresh.
Example Filter Combination
- Start Date: This Month
- Completion Date: Last 30 Days
- Result: Shows only tasks that started this month AND were completed in the last 30 days
Tips for Effective Task Management
- Track Progress: Use the Completion Date filter to review recently finished work.
- Identify Bottlenecks: Compare filtered task counts against total tasks to spot workflow issues.
- Generate Reports: Apply date range filters to gather data for specific reporting periods.
- Monitor Workload: Use the task count display to quickly assess how many tasks meet specific criteria.
